Win with The Bear helps us all discover our rich local assets and have fun doing it, explained Betsy Baer, executive director of the Glenview Chamber of Commerce. It also inspires locals to shop local.  When you shop local, 1.75 percent of your purchase price goes to support Glenview's public services. That's why we say, When you shop local, your whole hometown wins.  Finally, the timing couldn't be better: What a way to start scouting your holiday gift list.

Curious about The Bear? He's been around since 1917, Ms. Baer said, referring to the statue that stands at the entrance of Jackman Park. The bear is 100 years old this year, and he was excited to participate. Ms. Baer added that her last name is purely coincidental.
