New Lights on a Time-honored Tradition
Always a popular event, Glenview’s Holiday in the Park & Parade has expanded this year and starts at a new time, 3:30.
All the best traditions—including Santa—are returning to Glenview Road west of Waukegan on Saturday, November 30, 2013, augmented by lots and lots and lots of lights.
The order of events: at 3:30 p.m. it’s the street lighting for Glenview Road. Minutes later: Santa’s parade, with floats and bands, and marchers from Glenview’s schools and organizations. After the parade: Glenview’s tree lighting in Jackman Park, with guaranteed snow (provided by Northern Seasonal Systems), followed by lots of fun: conversations with Santa, free presents and delicious treats, plus hayrides.
"It’s one big kick-off for the holidays,†explained Betsy Baer, executive director of the Glenview Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the event. “It’s our way of thanking folks for shopping local, and celebrating a good year.†Other sponsors include: Astellas Pharma US, Inc., NorthShore University HealthSystems, Glenview State Bank, @properties, Citibank, Northern Seasonal Services LLC, Jennings Chevrolet & Volkswagen, Red's Body Shop, Bertog Landscape Co., Effective Air, Glenview Coin & Collectibles, Johnny's Kitchen & Tap, Koenig & Strey - The Doetsch Team, Weiss & Company LLP, Carlson Heating Cooling & Electric, Carriage Hill Kennels, Koenig & Strey - Michael Mazzei, Optimist Club of Glenview.
